Welcome to BigLaw to Books!
I’m Sara.
I write about ambition, purpose, and the lives we build — work shaped by my Harvard master’s in psychology, two decades in BigLaw, and a life anchored by reading and my rescue pets.
I’m an attorney — most recently a partner at Kirkland & Ellis after many years at Latham & Watkins— and also an author. I write novels, essays, and the occasional deep‑dive book review while collecting paper products and posting photos of my highly telegenic pets on Instagram.
I’ve completed a novel about female founders and their billionaire investor (think Silicon Valley but with women and Birkins), and I’m drafting two more: one about an inheritance battle over a Wisconsin paper‑mill dynasty, and one about a cancelled pop star searching for her second act.
Here, I’ll be writing bi-weekly (or so) about books I love, reflections on the strange and exhilarating shift from high‑powered attorney to brand‑new writer, and the things that bring me joy (joy is my #1 mission in 2026).
If you’ve ever dreamed of leaving your safe, lucrative, high‑stress job for something creative, I’m your guinea pig. I’ll share what I’m learning — the little wins, the stumbles, the identity crises, the joy — as I build a writing life from scratch.
Thanks for being here!
